Accessibility Statement
lwrTools — Land & Water Resource Tools for Dane County
Our Commitment
Dane County Land & Water Resources Department is committed to ensuring lwrTools is accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
This commitment extends to all pages served by lwrTools, both internal tooling pages, and public-facing resources.
Measures We Take
- Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy and landmark regions
- Keyboard navigation for all interactive features
- Skip navigation links to bypass repetitive content
- Sufficient color contrast in both light and dark modes (minimum 4.5:1 ratio)
- Screen reader compatibility with ARIA labels and live regions
- Responsive design that adapts to different viewport sizes
- Accessible clipboard copy pattern with screen reader announcements
- Reduced motion support via
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query - Automated WCAG compliance testing integrated into the build pipeline using static analysis regression tests
- In-browser testing with WAVE (Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool)
Known Limitations
- Single-page applications (SPA) served by lwrTools are client-side applications with their own accessibility implementations; this statement covers the server-rendered lwrTools pages, but not the client-side SPAs
- Some legacy MS Access application help content references network paths that cannot be validated for accessibility
